About the Center
The centre is licensed and chartered as an Early Childhood Centre (ECE) for Conductive Education Programmes. The Ministry of Education issues the license and the centre must operate under the licensing requirement of the Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1998. These affect the standards of staffing, programmes, buildings and management. The Charter is written in consultation with parents/whanau and staff. A copy of the Charter is kept in the office and foyer and is available for parents to read.

Danielle Simnor
My name is Danielle Simnor and I am happily married to Greg and we have two delightful school aged daughters.
I am a highly motivated, creative and passionate teacher who loves to work collaboratively as a team in fostering the needs of all children to see their full potential realised and reached. From a very young age I have naturally found myself being drawn to children with special needs and it has been this passion that has seen me pursue a career in teaching. I am a fully qualified and registered teacher with 21 years of teaching experience in New Zealand and in Italy. I have taught both in the early childhood sector, supporting multiple children with special needs and more recently as a teacher aide in the school sector with children with high complex needs. I truly value the input of others and over the years I have worked in close partnership with health professionals, teachers, children and of course their whanau, in the home, early childhood settings and school environments. Outside of my work environment I am actively involved and a part of my church family called The Rock. I enjoy socialising with friends and family, and keeping fit! I also love to travel and have a zest for life. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you & your children as I work alongside the team at Conductive Education. |
Byron Greenwood
Byron was born in South Africa and moved to New Zealand when he was 11. Once in New Zealand his family settled in Lower Hutt and he began attending Kimi Ora. Four years later he continued onto Upper Hutt College. Byron became involved with Conductive Education through a respite facility called Kara hands which also co-ordinated respite for some of the families that were attending Conductive. Byron has been involved as a volunteer for 6 years. He appreciates so much all that his parents have done for him to get him where he is today. He has always wanted to work with children and sees his work at Conductive as a way to give back. |
Tarika Naidu
I am a Conductive Assistant and have lived in New Zealand for 17 years. I completed my tertiary training in Fiji and have worked as a Health Care Assistant in New Zealand for over 10 years.
My knowledge and practical experience has helped me care and support the children and their families/whanau here at Conductive Education. |
Kathy Blake
Kathy came to us from the Ministry of Health where she had worked for a number of years. While the role of Centre Manager is busy, diverse and ever shifting, she loves the challenges that come with the role.
From day one she has been blown away by the dedication, caring and support that the team here provide to the families and children. Kathy lives in Upper Hutt where most of her family are and her favourite thing to do in the weekend is fishing. |
Robyn Laird– Educational Support Worker (Provided and paid by the Ministry of Education and Group Special Education)
Robyn plays a vital role in the Conductive Education of children attending our centre, working as part of the team to support the Conductor as they implement the individual goals of each child. Sometimes she will also accompany individual children to community Kindergartens/Early Childhood Education centres as an Education Support Worker (ESW). This both extends and implements the Conductive Education goals in other educational environments, whilst enabling the children to develop socially with their peers. |
"What I love about conductive education is the whole inclusion of the family. At the conductive education centre there is the understanding that a parent will always want their best for their child and the staff listens to the parents, caregivers and all who are involved in looking after the physically challenged child." Kitty Parker.
